How to: Nail Spring Racing Style This Season
It’s that time of year again already - Spring Racing Season. It’s completely crept up on me!

This will be only the second year attending the Spring Carnival in Melbourne, but I definitely have learned a thing or two from my experience.

I always love the excuse to dress up, and for the men to don their suits and look sharp. My personal favourites for trackside this year are lace details, black (always), blush tones and leather headpieces. We shot these Spring Racing looks with ASILIO, Saint Laurent, Forever New, Cameo The Label, Tony Bianco, Steve Madden, Cooper Street and headpieces by local designer Odessa (headpieces available at Laine boutique, Port Melbourne).

Nail it with these 4 tips:

  1. Check your hemline – I like to go for nothing higher than an inch above the knee. They can be pretty strict on dress code and I think it’s always best to be cautious and go for the ‘midi’ length or there abouts.
  2. Keep your hair fuss-free. There’s nothing like Melbourne’s unpredictable weather to mess with the gently curled waves you spent an hour doing. My advice – go for half-up or full up-do’s so you don’t have to think about it. And if you are really still set on having your hair down go for more carefree undone wave.
  3. Wear shoes that are comfortable (but hopefully still chic!) – I can’t stress this enough. Otherwise you end up sitting down and missing all the fun.
  4. And last but not least…bring a roomy clutch bag! There’s nothing like a long day at the races to make you wish you’d packed everything but the kitchen sink.
