How to Nail the Brown Smokey Eye

One of my favourite things is discovering new make up tricks.

Tips that save you time, make you look like a pro, and take minimal effort! However there is one look I've been trying for years to perfect, but I feel like I never quite nail it.

My go-to look has always been a black smokey eye but it can look pretty intense and quite easy to stuff up! I decided it was finally time for me to master this look and after watching a million YouTube tutorials I realised I was going to need some help.

My girlfriend Victoria, owns the heavenly Curtis Collection Cosmetics so I recruited her to give me the low-down on every tip and trick she uses so that I can do this look in five minutes as I'm rushing out the door.

My go-to for a night out is a black smokey eye and winged eyeliner, but I want something less intense and more natural!

  • Start by contouring the eye with bronzer - fantastic because I don't like to use a bunch of different products!

  • Highlight the center of the eye in the inner 2/3 of the eye with a lighter shadow (we used Golden Girl)

  • Use a dark coloured shadow in the outer corner of the eye only, making a V from the lash-line to the crease.

  • Brown liquid eyeliner is best for this look so it stays soft and natural.

  • Adding layers of volumising mascara or lashes will amp up the intensity.

  • Don't forget to BLEND BLEND BLEND!!

 The final result!

The final result!

I'm thrilled Victoria had time to give me the low-down on this look, I've been using her products since the start of this year and the quality is AMAZING! I use the foundation religiously. These tips made it super simple to achieve, not even I can mess this one up!  You could definitely have some fun with this by adding colours and playing with the intensity.  This look is perfect for a night out or for taking your look from day to night. Hope you also learned a little something useful.
