How to Dress for Melbourne's Winter...time to Cosy Up.
So between the grey skies, raining days and amount of layering we're having to do before we leave the house, it's obvious winter is well and truly here.
And I'm not happy about it! The one positive is, I'm loving all the knitwear pieces around at the moment, and I do love wearing coats...so I'm trying to embrace it.
After a few months of avoiding clothes shopping because I found it so hard to find clothes that hid my bump, and shopping for baggy dresses was getting uninspiring, I can finally wear things that fit properly!
Here are my 3 style go-toes for winter that I've been loving lately. I'd love to know what winter styles you're loving at the moment - and if there are any trends you've spotted and aren't sure of how to style, let me know below and I'll get back to you with my take.
Comfortable & Cosy Sleepwear
Lately I'm finding it sooo much harder to get out of bed. In summer, I'm happy wearing light, silky delicate sleepwear to bed, but bedtime in Melbourne's winter only means one thing...warmth! I've stocked up on cosy knit dressing gowns, soft pyjama pants and cute tops. There's no excuse to look daggy at bedtime, so now is a good time to refresh the pieces you wore out last winter. My current set is from the Jockey Weekender range.
I know Eve would murder me if I ever tried to do the school run in my PJ's though (not sure I could forgive myself either!) But I have almost left the house in slippers and few times this month...!
Now is the perfect time to play with texture and layer layer layer! I'll be freezing first thing in the morning, and need to layer stockings, boots, singlet, dress, sweater, coat...and then once a little afternoon sun hits me I'm trying to peel off my layers fast so I can get a little bit of Vitamin D before the it disappears again!
Mixing Luxe Knitwear & Denim
I live in denim and it's my daily go-to. I outgrew all my jeans so quickly once I started to show, so have stocked up on some comfortable, stretchy pieces like these ones worn above (from Ripe).
Knitwear is always a staple in my winter wardrobe, so mix things up with fun shapes and details this season to give your look an update, don't just stick to traditional 'sweaters'. This swing knit is soo comfy and warm but still flattering.
